Argentina’s construction sector grew 8.9 per cent in May compared to the same month last year, according to a report by national statistics institute Indec. With the growth in May, the sector is up 7.8 per cent so far this year, compared to the first five months of 2004. The sector was up 2.3 per cent with respect to April. The upswing also had positive results in the cement and asphalt sector sales, respectively reaching nearly 600,000t and 47,000t, up 1.1 per cent and 7.1 per cent from April, and up 30.2 per cent and 47.7 per cent from May 2004.
