Cemex’s decision to close 15 to 20 plants and slash 2000 jobs by 2007 threatens to affect also its German unit Readymix Beton Sachsen GmbH, a Readymix spokeswoman said on June 23, 2005.  Cemex will seek to restructure its German plants due to high production costs and save a total Euro 214m in Europe by 2007, a spokesman said on June 23, 2005.  Lay-offs, aimed at boosting operations, will result in EUR 58m savings.  Cemex operates six plants in Germany through its local unit Readymix, of which four in the eastern German state of Saxony.
