Akmenes Cementas, the only manufacturer of cement in Lithuania, has announced that its sales last year climbed 16.7 percent to 104.5 million litas (Euro 30.3m). Virginija Berezniak, a company spokesperson, told reporters that Akmenes Cementas expects sales in 2005 to grow to 111 million litas (Euro 32.2m). In 2004, the company sold 746,400t of cement, 24.6 per cent more than it sold in 2003. Domestic sales accounted for 67 per cent of the company’s total sales. Last year exports to Finland amounted to 21 per cent of the firm’s total sales, and exports to Latvia made up 11 per cent of total sales. Published under Cement News
