Egypt’s cement output fell to 16.8Mt in the first seven months of the fiscal 2003/04, ending June 30, 2004, from about 17.1Mt in the corresponding period of 2002/03, the Egyptian state-run Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) said in a report. Local cement sales decreased to 14.9Mt in the period from July 2003 to January 2004 from 15.6Mt in the year-earlier period. Cement sales fell to 1.983Mt in January 2004 from 2.652Mt in December 2003 and 2.893Mt in January 2003. Egypt’s cement output stood at 28.638Mt in 2002/03, compared to 26.811Mt in 2001/02, Local sales totalled 26.434Mt in 2002/03, against 26.532Mt in 2001/2002.
