Saudi cement producer Eastern Province Cement Company (EPC) produced 2,698,745t of cement in 2003, compared to 2,461,218 tonnes in 2002, the company said.

EPC clinker output stood at 1.2Mt. The company reported cement exports of 498,000t, compared to 542,000t, while total cement sales stood at 2,677,276t, up from 2,459,742t.

EPC, based in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, was established in 1982 as a joint stock company under the name Saudi-Kuwaiti Cement Company. The company changed its name to Eastern Province Cement Company in 1994 and is now wholly owned by Saudi investors.
