India: Jaypee Cement comes to city

Jaypee Group this week launched its brand Jaypee Cement in Hyderabad with the creation of a wide network to make the cement available state-wide through more than 1100 dealers.

With an installed capacity of over 31Mta from 24 cement plants across the country, Jaypee is set to increase its cement capacity to 36Mta with forays in the state of Hyderabad and a new cement plant in Krishna district.

“We are third largest cement manufacturer in the country and the new plant in Krishna district is designed for 5Mta,” said Senior General Manager (Marketing) Narayan Rao, while announcing the launch of Jaypee cement in the city.

 “Cement consumption has been stable here last year at around 16 lakh tonne [1.6Mt] per month but it had come down from earlier 21 lakh tonne [2.1Mt]. The slowdown among other issues was the reason. The trend now is positive and it is picking up and it could go up to 18 lakh tonne [1.8Mt],” said Mr Rao.
