Hanson Cement, has taken delivery of six Renault Premium 460.25 6x2 tractor units with Privilege cabs.  In an important deal for Renault Trucks UK, these are the first Renault Premiums to join Hanson Cement’s 200-strong fleet of Mercedes Benz and Volvo tractor units.

The new Premiums operate out of Ribblesdale in Clitheroe and Ketton in Rutland, pulling Felbinder 40 cubic metre powder tank trailers for bulk cements and low height curtain siders to transport packaged products nationwide.

Commenting on the decision to add six Renault Premiums to the fleet, Andrew Bridge, Distribution Director of Hanson Cement, says: “With an annual fuel spend of GPB8m, fuel economy is our principle driver. The Renault Premium performed well in trials and its driveline definitely makes a difference to fuel economy. January was their first month on the road and the Premiums operating out of Clitheroe are already delivering 7.97mpg, which for new vehicles at this time of year is good on our service.”

As well as driving down costs, improved fuel efficiency helps reduce the environmental impact of Hanson Cement’s transport operation, an integral part of the company’s business strategy. Mr Bridge continues: “We run fully freighted for 60 per cent of the time and usually at the maximum 44 tonne gvw, so driving down fuel consumption is key to improving our operational efficiency and meeting our environmental commitments.”
