Latest data by the South Africa Cement and Concrete Institute shows that domestic sales for the first two months of the year have registered a double-digit increase.

For January and February 2012, cement sales reached 1.66Mt, a 13.7 per cent compared to the same period of 2011 (1.46Mt).

Meanwhile, sales for February 2012 alone were 884,700t, representing a rise of 7.4 per cent compared to 823,934t in February 2011.

The moving annual total for the previous 12 months sees cement sales at 11.44Mt, up 5.7 per cent YoY.
