Italcementi Group will be one of the suppliers for the Jamal Abdul Nasser Street Project, part of a mega infrastructure project in Kuwait City. This is being developed by the Rizzani OHL Boodai Trevi joint venture, comprising Italian construction Groups Rizzani de Eccher and Trevi, Spanish construction Group OHL and Kuwait conglomerate Boodai Corporation.
The project includes the substantial upgrade of this main traffic artery in the middle of Kuwait City and upgrading the status of Jamal Abdul Nasser Street to an Express-Way through the construction of over 395,000m2 of viaducts, including six cloverleaf intersections and other associated structures.
The supply of ready mix concrete (representing the casting of 240,000m3 over three years, starting from next summer) will be delivered through Kuwait-German Ready Mix Concrete Company – one of the three ready-mix subsidiaries of the Italcementi Group in Kuwait.
“The contract for this major project in the area – says Carlo Pesenti, CEO of Italcementi Group during a visit in Kuwait and Middle East Area – confirms our commitment to the emerging countries, where the annual construction growth rate in the past four years was equal to 5.8 per cent. The planned investments in infrastructure projects in the Gulf area enable us to strengthen our presence in the region in order to meet the growing demand”.
Italcementi group operates in Kuwait through the subsidiary Hilal Cement Company, a company listed on the Kuwait City Stock Exchange. Hilal Cement is the third largest player in the cement business and manages two cement import terminals in southern Kuwait.
