Three of India's leading cement producers, UltraTech Cement as well as Holcim interests, ACC and Ambuja Cement, all reported healthy gains in their respective March 2012 figures.
UltraTech despatched 4.01Mt cement in March, 6.28% higher from previous year, a company release today said. Cement production during the month rose 4.5% YoY to 3.92Mt. On a monthly basis, despatches and production rose 14% and 13%, respectively.
Ambuja Cement sold 2.17Mt of cement in March this year, up 12.43 per cent over the same month last year (1.93Mt). Production during March was 2.19Mt against 1.95Mt a year ago.
Both sales and production of Ambuja Cements' during the January-March 2012 period stood at 6.09Mt. The corresponding figures in March 2011 were 5.55Mt and 5.59Mt, respectively.
ACC, meanwhile, old 2.34Mt cement in March, up 7.3 per cent over the same month last year (2.18Mt). In terms production, ACC reported 2.3Mt of output for March 2012 against 2.19Mt in the same month last year.
For the January-March 2012 period, sales stood at 6.72Mt compared to 6.22Mt in the same period last year. Production during the period was 6.7Mt against 6.2Mt in the year-ago period.
