Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) sold 4.04Mt of cement and clinker in the first quarter of this year, falling 14 per cent from a year earlier and fulfilling 91 per cent of its full-year target, the corporation said on its website.

A total of 3.72Mt were sold in the domestic market, down 17 per cent YoY and fullfilling 89 per cent of the corporation’s plan and 325,000t were exported, soaring 33 per cent YoY and surpassing 24 per cent of the corporation's annual plan.

In March, Vicem sold 1.87Mt of cement and clinker, down 19 per cent YoY and meeting 93 per cent of the full-year target. A total of 1.79Mt were sold in the domestic market, down 15.4 per cent YoY and 80,000t were exported, down 58.5 per cent YoY.

Vicem held 32.4 per cent of domestic market share 1Q12 while joint ventures made up 30.2 per cent, the corporation noted.
