Pakistan cement producer Lucky Cement has been awarded for its green supply chain operations and logistics at the Second International Shipping, Logistics and Supply Chain conference in Karachi.
Lucky Cement was commended for a number of sustainability projects like alternative fuels usage, energy conservation and plantation drives. In addition, the company’s in-house power generation units have been revamped to ensure environmental efficiency.
Mr. Noman Hasan, Chief Operating Officer, Lucky Cement commented “With increase in global warming, it is imperative for every corporate to invest in the sustainability of nature. At Lucky Cement, it is our highest priority to adopt pro-environment policies in all our operations including supply chain, logistics and production. I would like to thank Publicity Channel for this award which will be an endorsement and recognition for all our efforts. “
Earlier in the year Lucky Cement received level ‘A check’ from GRI for its sustainability disclosures in form of its sustainability report. The company has recently invested in various sustainability projects including waste heat recovery, tyre derived fuel and refused derived fuel. These projects have reduced the operational costs and have reduced the green-house-gas emissions to the minimum level.
The conference and awards were held by the Publicity Channel in recognition of the companies that are making sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategies.
