HeidelbergCement has launched construction of a new cement plant in Kaspi, Shida Kartli region of Georgia. The output of the new factory will be 1Mta and in the future production capacity will be raised to 2.8Mta, the management says.
The investment is to expand the exports volume to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia, the company says.
HeidelbergCement launched operation in Georgia in 2006. The company has bought a 73 per cent stake in Georgian Cement and a 75 per cent stake in Saqcementi. The company has already invested over €200m in Georgia.
