Vietnam’s leading cement producer Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) reported a 19.2 per cent YoY rise as domestic shipments increased but exports declined.
The state-run cement corporation said it sold 4.91Mt of cement and clinker in the first quarter of 2013, rising 19.2 per cent YoY. Of the total, 4.87Mt was sold in the domestic market, up 28 per cent YoY, while 44,000t of cement was exported, down 22.8 per cent YoY, the corporation said on its website.
In March, Vicem 2.06Mt of cement and clinker, up 8.1 per cent YoY, of which 1.66Mt of cement and 385,000t of clinker were sold in the domestic market while 19,000t of cement was exported.
Vicem also produced 4.07Mt of clinker and 3.62Mt of cement in the first quarter, rising by 18.6 per cent and 10.4 per cent YoY, respectively.
In the second quarter of this year, Vicem aims to produce 5.22Mt of cement and 4.25Mt of clinker.
The corporation also targets 5.76Mt of sales this year, with 220,000t of cement and clinker exported.
Last year, it sold 20.4Mt, rising by 8.8 per cent YoY and fulfilling 96.4 per cent of its full-year target.
