Holcim (US) Inc announced that its Theodore plant, located in Theodore, AL, received the Excellence in Operations Award from the Alabama Water Environmental Association (AWEA). The award honors companies that obtain perfect or near-perfect regulatory records as dictated by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
The Theodore plant was recognized for the superior performance of its storm water treatment system as related to physical treatment of waste water. The AWEA also noted the company's water conservation efforts and community outreach program, which focus on environmental sustainability.

"The Theodore facility exemplifies our continued efforts to exceed industry standards through evaluation and innovation. This award reminds us of our commitment to our communities and the environment."
The Theodore plant was one of four companies to receive the award from a pool of more than 60 nominees. The awards ceremony took place at Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, AL on 8 April 2013.
