PT Semen Indonesia is targeting a 50 per cent share in the Papuan cement market following the company's decision to build a packing plant in the coastal city of Sorong, West Papua, last year.
"We will maximise the utilisation of the packing plant," the company’s head of marketing development, Rudi Hartono, said the target is said after a company-held infrastructure seminar in Sorong yesterday.
Rudi said that the packing plant with 300,000t capacity will push Semen Indonesia's demand in Papua by 30,000- 40,000t per month. Rudi said that cement demand in Papua is relatively small, absorbing only 12,000t of Semen Indonesia's products per month. Papua is the largest and easternmost province of Indonesia.
