During the first 10 months (July 2012-April 2013) Pakistan exported 6.943Mt on revenues of US$469.02m, compared to 7.016Mt at US$390.42m in the corresponding period of last year. This translates into a 1.03 per cent decline in terms of quantity but a 20.13 per cent rise in dollar value, according to data released by Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics.
In Pakistan rupee terms, the value of exports rose by 30.64 per cent to PKR45.173bn during July-April and the average export price rose by 21.38 per cent.
In April alone, Pakistan exported 588,750t of cement and earned US$47.90m compared to 544,250t at $44.40m in March, 2013. This shows an increase of 8.18 per cent in terms of quantity and 7.90 per cent in terms of value in dollar respectively on MoM basis. However, on a YoY bais, exports volumes were down 23.63 per cent but the value edged ahead by 0.93 per cent.
