India: Dalmia Cement wins Manufacturing Today Award

Dalmia Cement, Ariyalur, has won the prestigious ‘Manufacturing Today Award 2013’ for excellence in technology, CSR, supply chain management, and sustainability. The award was sponsored by ‘Manufacturing Today’ magazine. Anil Bajaj, unit head of Dalmia Dement, Ariyalur, received the award at a function held in Pune on 28 September.

The company has taken stringent measure to ensure sustainability of raw materials and resources. Being one of the most fuel and energy efficient plant, Dalmia Cement is able to produce cement with very low power consumption in the cement industry.

According to Mr Anil Bajaj the state of the art pollution control equipments installed in the company have helped them carry out operations much below the permitted norms.

The company has a well designed community development programme under its CSR initiatives. With a wide range of programs for education, health, livelihood, water conservation and agriculture, the company has been contributing effectively for a well balanced socio economic growth in its CSR areas. Skill development initiatives to help young boys and girls take up employment, and help women to become empowered with options to earn income through livelihood training formed part of the CSR activities, he added.
