Ultracem SAS, a new entrant on the Colombian cement market, has initiated operations of a cement grinding plant supplied by Gebr Pfeiffer Inc at its plant in Barranquilla.
The privately-owned cement producer contracted Gebr Pfeiffer, Inc, a subsidiary of Gebr Pfeiffer SE to supply an MPS 3350 BC vertical roller mill for clinker with a complete cement grinding plant.
The grinding facility includes a rotary air lock with drive, MPS 3350 BC mill, an SLS 2900 BC high efficiency classifier, featuring Gebr Pfeiffer’s patented ‘Lift and Swing’ technology. The mill is designed to grind a variety of products, ranging from OPC to slag and limestone cements.
In addition to the vertical roller mill, the grinding plant also includes:
• plant equipment consisting of a bagfilter, fan, hot gas generator, bucket elevator, weigh feeder and two conveyors
• feed system with deduster and metal separator
• various fabricated parts including a 20 ton silo, ducting, dampers and stack
• instrumentation
• engineering services.
All equipment was delivered within one year and erection and start up were completed in just nine months.
Ultracem is owned by the Ruiseco family with Juan Manuel Ruiseco Gutierrez as CEO along with his brother, Nicolas Ruiseco Gutierrez, who serves as the company’s executive VP.
