The Bosowa Group of Indonesia has inaugurated a 1.8Mta cement mill at its plant in Maros, South Sulawesi, raising the company’s total production capacity to 5.3Mta.

The inauguration ceremony for the second mill at Maros was attended by MS Hidayat, Indonesia’s Minister of Industry as well as senior officials of the Bosowa Group.

The industrial conglomerate’s cement plants are operated by Semen Bosowa Maros and Semen Bosowa Indonesia, which run cement plants in Maros and Batam, respectively.

Chief executive of Bosowa, Erin Aksa, said the company had spent IDR1.1trn to boost cement and clinker capacity in Maros. The inauguration also marked clinker production being increased from 5500tpd to 7200tpd at the Maros works.  Total cement capacity at the Maros plant now stands at 4Mta.
