Dangote Cement will complete five cement plants across sub-Saharan Africa this year, adding around 13.5Mta of capacity to the group's existing volumes, according to Aliko Dangote, company chief executive.
The projects include a 1.5Mta plant in Zambia and Tanzania each, a 3Mta works in South Africa and a 1.5Mta facility in both the Republic of Congo and Gabon. Last week, Nigeria's High Commissioner to Zambia, Sifawu Momoh, said that the Zambia plant will be inaugurated next month.
In its domestic market of Nigeria, Dangote is constructing the third and fourth production lines of its 6Mta plant in Ibese, Ogun state, which will bring total capacity at the works to 12Mta. Another 3Mta kiln line is being added to the Objana plant in Kogi state.
