Lafarge North America Inc has selected Gebr Pfeiffer’s MVR vertical roller mill technology for its modernisation project at the Ravena cement works in NY, USA.

Lafarge is in the process of upgrading the Ravena works from wet-process to dry-process technology.
Gebr Pfeiffer, Inc, a subsidiary of Gebr Pfeiffer SE, has been contracted by Lafarge to supply a MVR 6000 R-6 which will be installed in a complete new  line at the plant, replacing two existing raw material slurry mills. The order also includes a 5600kW motor, engineering, supply and related services. Commissioning is planned for mid-2016.
 
Lafarge Exshaw expansion to receive MVR 5000 R-4 vertical roller mill

Meanwhile, Gebr Pfeiffer, Inc has also been contracted to supply Lafarge Canada Inc with a MVR 5000 R-4 vertical roller mill, as part of the cement producer’s Exshaw expansion project.

The 109-year-old Exshaw plant is located just west of Exshaw, Alberta, Canada, at the edge of the Rocky Mountains, approximately 80km west of the Calgary.

By installing Gebr Pfeiffer’s MVR mill technology, Lafarge will be able to increase capacity as they modernise the plant. The scope of supply also includes a 3300kW motor, engineering, supply and related services. Commissioning for this project is planned for early 2015.
