Bhutan-based cement producer Dungsam Cement is looking to market its cement in northeastern India.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of the government’s Druk Holdings & Investments, Dungsam Cement operates a 1.36Mta cement works in Nganglam, southeast Bhutan, and close to India.
Dorji Norbu, managing director of Dungsam Cement, told the Economic Times that given the relatively small size of the Bhutanese market, the company plans to export 70-80 per of its cement to India. The necessary licenses have already been obtained to market its Dragon Cement brand in the neighbouring country, Norbu told the business newspaper. Current cement production at the plant is 4130tpd, he added.
