Kenya’s largest producer, Bamburi Cement, and Mombasa County government have entered into a KES4.8bn (US$55.7m) partnership to develop a solid waste management system.
Bamburi will finance a feasibility study and provide equipment to boost the country’s waste management capabilities. Most of the waste will be used to generate alternative fuels in the company’s cement production process. (Source: AllAfrica News).
