State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem) saw output in January fall to 1.44Mt, a 9.4 per cent decline from December 2013 and 19.5 per cent reduction YoY.

Of the total, 986,000t of cement and clinker were sold in the domestic market, down 28.8 per cent MoM and 40.2 per cent YoY, while 456,000t were exported, up 120.3 per cent MoM and 219 per cent YoY, respectively.

In January, Vicem produced 1.23Mt of clinker and 1.05Mt of cement, down 11.6 and 16.7 per cent, respectively.

The country’s leading cement producer aims to sell 21Mt of cement and clinker this year.
