Lafarge Zambia is constructing the first cement depot in Chipata District in Eastern Province, valued at US$700,000. The depot will have a cement storage capacity of 3000t.
Emmanuel Rigaux, managing director of Lafarge Zambia, said the depot would benefit customers in Eastern Province as cement prices would now be stable. He noted, however, that storage capacity would not be enough to meet demand requirements for the whole province and that the company would increase the number of warehouses depending on consumption. ?
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Nzamane said the entry of Lafarge to Eastern Province would address local cement shortages and assist contractors in the new districts of Sinda and Vubwi with its high-quality product.
