The contract for CMS Cement’s new MYR190m grinding plant project on Sarawak, Malaysia, is due to be signed early next month, according to group managing director, Richard Curtis.
Speaking to The Star (Malaysia), Mr Curtis said the new 1Mta grinding plant is expected to be more efficient in production compared with the two existing plants as it would be equipped with the latest technology.
The grinding facility is to be situated adjacent to CMS’ Mambong clinker line which has also recently undergone an upgrade. This third grinding plant for the group, which will serve the Kuching and its hinterland, will increase CMS Cement’s total production capacity by almost 60 per cent. The existing plants in Pending and Bintulu have a combined rated production capacity of 1.75Mta.
CMS has projected cement sales to grow to 1.72Mt this year from 1.67Mt last year.
