Pacific Cement, formerly Fiji Industries, has reported an increase in exports to the island nation of Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean, as part of the cement producer’s strategy to increase exports throughout the region.
Acting general manager, Sonni Dutt, told the Fiji Times that the company has also started exports to New Zealand and were expected to exceed forecasts.
Pacific Cement recently announced its name change following approval from the boards in the hope that it would better reflect the company’s main line of business. Fiji Industries Limited already had Pacific Cement brand on its cement bags.
The move also ties in with the company’s plans to increase exports across the Pacific market. “We are now eyeing the Pacific market. We were the only cement factory in the Pacific and so we decided to go with that name,” Dutt recently told local press.
