Indonesia, Taiwan and Malaysia were the largest importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first eight months of this year, latest data from Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade shows.

During the period, Indonesia imported 1.56Mt of clinker and cement worth US$73m from Vietnam, while Taiwan acquired 933,128t worth US$40m and Malaysia purchased 904,117t worth US$44m.

Next in line were the Philippines (721,060t worth US$27m) and Cambodia (348,139t worth US$19m), the ministry added, giving no on-year comparative figures.

In the first eight months, Vietnam exported 14.6Mt of cement and clinker worth US$632.6m, up 14.8 and 18.8 per cent YoY in terms of volume and revenue. This total includes 1.6Mt in August at US$72m, up 9.8 and 9.9 per cent from July, respectively.
