In September, Spain’s cement consumption rose 6.1 per cent YoY to 959,150t, according to the latest figures issued by Oficemen, the country’s cement association.
Spain’s cement market saw demand drop by one per cent to 8,079,653t in 9M13 and as a result of the recent figures, Oficemen’s economic research department forecasts a one per cent drop in full-year consumption for 2014.
"The industry recovery is still far off. It is necessary that the administration’s budget department is seriously committed to the competitiveness of our country and enhance productive investment. The announced increase of 12.6 per cent from grants for infrastructure policy is insufficient. Investment by government and public infrastructure companies totalled EUR30,000m in 2007 and reached more than EUR22,000m in 2009, more than double than anticipated now for 2015, "says the CEO of Oficemen, Aniceto Zaragoza.
