JSW Cement has set its sights on expanding production capacity with several grinding projects under study in the south of India.
The company is plans to set up plants in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Kochi (Kerala) and Dolvi (Maharashtra) in a step by step approach starting this year.
Anil Kumar Pillai, CEO of JSW Cement told The Hindu that the company is currently ‘scouting for land’, adding that orders for plant and machinery are expected to be placed by March.
The cement grinding unit in Dolvi will be the first project to be completed, taking capacity from 0.6Mta to 1.8Mta. The cement producer also plans to construct new units in Chennai and Kochi with a production capacity of 0.45Mta each. Commissioning is expected within 15-18 months.
