Lafarge Tarmac’s Aberthaw cement plant in Wales, UK, is in the final stages of its GPB2m upgrade programme and is set for completion during its annual shutdown later this month.
Lafarge Tarmac Aberthaw plant manager, Chris Bradbury told local press: “Our investment plans are helping increase our production potential and ensure we are competitively placed in the market. Our most recent GBP2m investment programme will soon be completed when the last of our current planned improvements in our existing plant infrastructure takes place, in the next few weeks.
Planned work includes replacing the old hot gas ducting that runs at high level across the works and can be seen when approaching the site from St Athan, with new ducting that will be a visual enhancement to the locality. A total of GBP750,000 has been invested in a new packaging plant since last year to increase productivity.
Moreover, Lafarge Tarmac is on target to achieve greater than 30 per cent of fuel for the Aberthaw Cement Plant from alternative sources such as tyres and municipal waste. (Source: Barry & District News)
