The installation of a new cement mill at the Rusayl complex of Oman Cement Company will be completed by the fourth quarter of this year, chairman of the board, Dr Abdullah Abbas Ahmed, told the Oman Daily Observer.
The plant will increase production by an additional 150tph following the completion of the new expansion, he stated. The infrastructure supporting the cement silos and bulk dispatches is currently under installation, said Dr Abdullah Abbas Ahmed.
In unaudited interim financial results published yesterday, Oman Cement posted a net profit after tax of OMR3.832m (US$9.95m) for the quarter ended 31 March, representing a 3.7 per cent increase over the net earnings of OMR3.696m (US$9.6m) for the corresponding quarter of 2014.
The company recorded total sales of OMR14.689m (US$38.15m) during 1Q15, compared to OMR13.038m (US$33.86m) for the corresponding period of 2014. In quantity terms, cement sales climbed to 591,558t during the quarter under review, up 13.4 per cent from 521,557t in sales achieved during 1Q14.
Total cement production during this period was 586,950t, entailing an increase of 12.8 per cent over an output of 520,280t achieved during 1Q14.
