Moroccan cement orders increased 3.35 per cent in April to 1.38Mt from 1.33Mt in April 2014. The regional markets in particular supported this growth with Oued Eddahab reporting sales up by 49.05 per cent in April, followed by Doukkala-Abda (+41.23 per cent) and Gharb-Cherarda-Bhssen (+20.26 per cent). However, major consuming areas such as Greater Casablanca and Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer noted falls of 5.16 and 3.43 per cent, respectively.
For the year to date, the domestic market expanded by 1.4 per cent YoY from 4.8Mt to 4.9Mt. However, Moroccan cement consumption showed volatility with market growth in January at 5.61 per cent, then falling to 2.42 per cent the following month and further down to 0.59 per cent in March.
