Devnya Cement, part of Italcementi Group, has officially launched the new line at its plant in Bulgaria in the presence of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
Also present at the ceremony was Italy’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Marco Conticelli, who pointed out that Italian investments in Bulgaria were producing clear results, according to reports by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. He said that the cement plant in Devnya was already one of the largest in Europe and the technologies used there contributed to reducing environmental pollution and increasing production.
Modernisation of the plant, which began in April 2012, involved the conversion into a dry-process plant with a clinker production capacity of 4000tpd. Involving an investment of EUR160m, the project was completed in October 2014, taking the plant’s capacity to 1.5Mta.
