Zuari Cement plans to increase Indian presence

Zuari Cement, part of the Italcementi Group, is looking to increase its presence in India ahead of an anticipated increase in domestic consumption.

The company has plans to add another 1Mta to its current capacity of 6Mta by the end of the year.  Speaking to Cnbc-TV18, Nabil Francis, MD-India, Zuari Cements said: “We have established a new site in Sholapur, so at the end of this year we will be over 7Mta as a capacity."

On the outlook for cement demand growth in the country, Mr Francis said: "Most of the experts are anticipating a bounce in demand starting in the second half of 2015."
