Thermo Fisher Scientific today announced that its Ecublens, Switzerland, plant is the recipient of the 2015 Swiss Industrial Excellence Award, as chosen by an international jury of operations management professors from INSEAD and HEC Paris, and is also now a finalist for the European Industrial Excellence Award.
Thermo Fisher’s Ecublens plant, which employs about 180 people, manufacturers its line of Thermo Scientific laboratory analysers, including the ARL 9900, ARL iSpark, ARL 4460 and ARL PERFORM’X analyzers, as well as the Laboratory Automation SMS solutions.
In receiving the Swiss honors, the Ecublens facility was recognised for its high level of product quality, as well as its practical process improvement philosophy and strong customer satisfaction scores, Thermo Fisher explained in a statement. Additionally, auditors noted that the plant’s vision, mission, values and culture of continuous improvement were shared from senior leadership to employees on the factory floor, with a commitment to achieving common strategic goals, it addd.

Each of the eight finalists for the 2015 European Industrial Excellence Award will present to a panel of academic judges at the WirtschaftsWoche Industrial Excellence Conference and Award event on September 29 in Ludwigsburg, Germany, with the winner announced at a Gala Dinner that night.
