The Victoria Group has been granted conditional approval by Plymouth City Council to build a new bulk cement storage and distribution terminal on the city's waterfront, situated on the south coast of Devon, UK.
The Plymouth Herald reported last week that the new depot is part of plans to transport tens of thousands of tonnes of cement of cement shipped in and out of Plymouth every year by ship instead of road.
The chosen site for the terminal used to be a hub for coal imports and includes old disused railway lines. It was most recently used as a boat storage and repair yard but has now been out of use for decades,
The Victoria Group says its plan will enable it to ship the cement in and store it in six silos, which will have a combined capacity of 12,000t, the report added.
