Paraguay: INC distributors complain about cement supply

Paraguay: INC distributors complain about cement supply
22 September 2015

Several Paraguayan cement distributors have complained about supply issues which sees them receiving only 13-25 per cent of their normal order volumes. The state-run cement firm INC is not providing sufficient cement and Cementos Yguazu has completely stopped cement supply.

The head of INC, Jorge Mendez, has admitted that due to problems with one of the kilns cement supply dropped recently, but the issue has been solved now and supply levels will return to normal shortly. The firm currently produces 55,000 sacks per day, yet production dropped to 35,000-40,000 sacks per day over the week beginning 14 September 2015. Mr Mendez denied claims that distribution levels had fallen to just 22,000 sacks daily.

Meanwhile, Mr Mendez reported that from 2016 the company will focus on its production expansion plans. It will add a new mill, increasing output capacity by 10 per cent next year.
