The Mozambican Minister of Industry and Trade has inaugurated a bag filter installed by Cimentos de Mozambique, part of the Cimpor group.
"The decision of Cimentos de Mozambique appears as a positive response to the imperative of adopting technologies that minimise the negative impact on the environment and the communities living in the vicinity of this plant," said Max Tonela, quoted by the news agency AIM, during the inauguration of the new equipment at the company's unit in Matola, near Maputo.
Cimentos de Mozambique expects to produce 700,000t this year, while maintaining plans to invest US$250m to build a new plant in Nacala, Nampula province, north of the country.
