Brazil sees double-digit drop in September sales

Brazil’s September cement sales fell by 14.7 per cent YoY to 5.5Mt, according to a summary of preliminary industry data and market estimates published by Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento.

Imports fell by 52 per cent YoY during the month to 32,000t, data collected by SECEX/MDIC showed.

Accumulated cement sales over the January-September 2015 period reached 49.2Mt, down 7.7 per cent YoY.

In the 12 month period covering October 2014 - September 2015, total sales were 66.8Mt, a decline of 5.7 per cent versus the comparative period of the previous year (ie, October 2013 - September 2014)
