Pakistan cement dispatches in the first four months of FY16 increased by 3.79 per cent YoY to 11.398Mt, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturer’s Association (APCMA).
Domestic sales during the period climbed to 9.37Mt, representing a YoY increase of 14.38 per cent – the fastest growth in the last eight years, the industry body noted.
However, exports fell by just over a quarter to 2.028Mt versus 2.79Mt in the comparative period of last year.
Regional breakdown
Closer analysis reveals that sales from plants based in the north rose by 13.65 per cent YoY to 7.803Mt. Exports from this region fell to 1.292Mt, down 25.85 per cent YoY.
Domestic sales growth was stronger in the south, with shipments increasing by 18.21 per cent YoY to 1.325Mt.
