Pakistan cement industry saw noticeable growth during the first six months of the current fiscal on the back of higher domestic demand.
The data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) revealed that dispatches during July-December 2015 (ie, 6MFY15-16) increased by 6.38 per cent to 18.21Mt compared with dispatches of 17.12Mt during the corresponding period of FY14-15.
“It is to be noted that this growth is mainly led by domestic consumption which increased by a healthy 16.34 per cent to 15.2Mt during July to December 2015 compared to 13.06Mt in July to December 2014,” an APCMA spokesperson said.
He added that during the same period, country’s exports declined by a substantial 25.68 per cent to 3.01Mt compared to 4.06Mt in 6MFY14-15.
