A second kiln line is under construction at Tanga Cement Company Ltd (TCCL), Tanzania, which will increase clinker production capacity at the facility to 1.2Mta.
The new line, which is to be commissioned soon, will have an annual clinker capacity of 700,000t and enable the company to displace more costly clinker imports.
“We expect that by completion, the kiln that will cost some US$165m (TZS 363bn) and will help the company in saving the colossal amount of money spent in the importation of clinker,” said Chairman of Board of Directors Lawrence Masha at the company’s annual general meeting last week.
“This additional capacity is expected to satisfy the consistent demand for cement from both the Tanzanian market and markets beyond the country’s borders into the immediate future,” he added.
