Ferus Smit has delivered the Nb. 435 (MV Ireland) to new owners JT Cement, a joint venture between Erik Thun AB and KG Jebsen Cement. The vessel was delivered after an extensive programme of trials in which the safety and proper working of all systems was verified. MV Ireland left the harbour of Delfzijl, The Netherlands, on its first commercial voyage immediately after delivery.
MV Ireland is the second dedicated cement carrier for JT Cement. The vessels are the first dry cargo vessels with an LNG-fuelled propulsion system and LNG tanks integrated inside the hull. While sailing on LNG, the vessel will be able to meet the most stringent of emissions targets.
