In June, Peruvian cement demand fell by 3.5 per cent YoY to 0.756Mt from 0.781Mt, according to Asocem, the country's cement association.
Domestic sales were supplemented with 23,000t of export sales, which slipped from 24,000t in June 2015. However, the country also imported 28,000t of clinker and 44,000t of cement.
Cement output from Peru’s cement plants decreased three per cent in June when compared with the previous month and 0.5 per cent YoY.
For the rolling year, between July 2015 and June 2016, Peru’s cement consumption fell 1.9 per cent to 73.721Mt from 75,150t a the previous year. Clinker exports saw a 67.6 per cent drop to 180,000t while cement exports declined 2.7 per cent to 350,000t.
Production contracted by 1.4 per cent from 77.435Mt to 76.336Mt in the 12 months ending June 2016.
