Togo: CIMAF to agree greenfield plant deal

Togo: CIMAF to agree greenfield plant deal
08 August 2016

Morrocan-based Ciments de l'Africa (CIMAF) is thought to be on the brink of agreeing to construct a new cement plant in Togo.

There are  currently four cement producers operating in Togo - WACEM, Fortia, HeidelbergCement, CIMTOGO - but they are expected to be joined by a new entrant if the Togolese authorities can agree terms with another cement manufacturer.

According to Togosite, CIMAF plans to build a cement factory in Tabligbo, Yoto Prefecture (80km from Lomé). The capacity of the new plant has not yet been disclosed, but the company is already believed to have begun studies for the greenfield works. By choosing Tabligbo, CIMAF anticipates access to abundant clinker in the region to expand production and thus meet national and regional needs.

By setting up a new production unit in Togo CIMAF is looking to develop its businesses in sub-Saharan African which are already covering Ghana, Gabon, Côte d'Ivoire and Guinea.
