Société les Cimenteries du Cameroun (Cimencam) announced that the commissioning of its new Nomayos cement plant is scheduled for mid-2018. The new grinding unit will boast an installed capacity of 2Mta and is expected to cost XAF23bn (US$38.5m).
The project, which was originally announced in 2011, will benefit from 5-10 years of tax and customs duties exemptions, as per an agreement signed in May between Cimencam and the State of Cameroon. The agreement follows the conditions provided in the 2013 Act on promoting private investment in the Republic of Cameroon.
Cimencam is controlled by LafargeHolcim Maroc (54.7 per cent), a joint venture comprised of LafargeHolcim and the Société nationale d’investissement du Maroc (National Investment Company of Morocco belonging to the Moroccan royal family).
