Residents of the northern Quang Ninh Province's Hoanh Bo District have complained about dust emissions, noise and smoke from the Ha Long Cement plant.
Nguyen Van Ty head of Dat Do Village’s residential area said dust had been continuously discharged for 20 days. A representative from the cement plant responded to this claim, saying the plant had suffered technical errors and that the issue would be resolved soon.
Nguyen Bá Thành, head of Ha Long Cement Factory's Environment Safety Unit, told local news sources that the factory uses modern production lines imported from Denmark, which wouldn’t impact the surrounding environment. He also assured that the factory implemented air monitoring annually and the data had been transmitted to the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
Hoành Bo District Office, in co-operation with the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, has strengthened inspections on all factories in the district, including Ha Long Cement Factory, which has committed to fixing the situation and minimising dust emissions.
