Production of cement in Tajikistan rose by over 41 per cent in the first 11 months of 2016 compared to the same period in the previous year, the Times of Central Asia reports.

In total, the country produced more than 1.8Mt of cement in the 11 months to November 2016.

Tajikistan currently has 12 cement plants with a combined capacity of 4Mta, the newest of which – operated by Jung-Tsai Mohir Cement – has a capacity of 1.2Mta.

Exports from Tajikistan amounted to 256,000t in the first 11 months of 2016, with Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan being the destinations.
